Court Approved Atheist Holy Day

I'm stepping out of my comfort box on this one....because it is funny.

In  Florida , an atheist created a case against Easter and Passover Holy   days.  He hired an attorney to bring a discrimination case against   Christians and Jews and observances of their holy days.  The argument was   that it was unfair that atheists had no such recognized days.
The  case was brought before a judge.  After listening to the   passionate presentation by the lawyer, the judge banged his gavel declaring,   "Case dismissed!"
The lawyer immediately stood and objecting to the ruling saying,
"Your   honor, How can you possibly dismiss this case?  The Christians have   Christmas, Easter and others.
The Jews have Passover, Yom Kippur and Hanukkah, yet my client and all other   atheists have no such holidays..."
The judge leaned forward in his chair saying, "But you do. Your client,   counselor, is woefully ignorant."
The lawyer said," Your Honor, we are unaware of any special observance or   holiday for  atheists."
The judge said, "The calendar says April 1st is April Fool’s Day. Psalm 14:1   states, 'The fool says in his heart, there is no God.'  Thus, it is the   opinion of this court, that, if your client says there is no God, then he is a   fool. Therefore,
April   1st is his day.
Court is   adjourned..."
You gotta love a Judge that knows his scripture!

Nobody Told Me - Guest Melissa Nesdahl

Her tiny arms wrap around my neck as she whispers, “I love you, mom.”

“I love you too, sweetheart,” I whisper back.

Wiping her hair away from her eyes, I consider the word my child just whispered.

Every child has an innate longing to be loved. They want to know that they are appreciated and desired beyond measure. Delight is found in the idea of this word from the time they are born.

Yet, its meaning has been so twisted by selfish, ungodly desires in our culture that the simple misuse and misunderstanding of this word has destroyed the lives of countless youth today. It is time that we clearly explain Godly love so that young people can set a healthy standard in their relationships.

To help accomplish this, Internationally known abstinence speaker, Pam Stenzel, and I released our first book together (with Regal Books). Entitled Nobody Told Me: What You Need to Know About the Physical and Emotional Consequences of Sex Outside of Marriage.” we compiled approximately 8 years worth of the best teen and young adult stories and questions about God’s design for love and relationships, Scriptural encouragement, media influence, peer pressure, abuse, pregnancy, STDs, emotional heartache, recycled virginity, and choosing abstinence until marriage and put them into a fun Facebook-like format.

This book is perfect for every student (12 and up) regardless of the choices they have made. For those who have abstained, this book will offer a window into the heart of their peers, provide answers to difficult questions they still might have (and be afraid to ask), strengthen them to remain pure until marriage, and offer for them suggestions to help them live that out. For those who have made mistakes, this book will give them the opportunity to hear stories of young people struggling right along with them, but within that commonality our words will provide clarity where there was confusion, hope where there was pain, experienced forgiveness from a loving God, understanding that their past choices don’t have to define their future ones, and practical steps to redeeming their future.

Some of you may not have teens (12 and up) yet. Good news, the book is still FOR YOU. Why? Because we live in a rapidly changing world. The consequences that today’s adults faced as a teens are no longer the same as the teenagers of today. The number of STDs has risen, media exposure delivers wildly different messages, and the people in the home and church haven’t always known how to effectively deliver an abstinence-based message that is both glorifying to God and yet honest and powerful enough to pack a punch with the students who hear it.

With Godly teaching and important up to date facts, we bring everyone up to speed and successfully communicate a message of Godly love that empowers ALL students to choose self-respect and Biblical choices from this day forward.

On the cover, popular Christian recording artist states, “This book is relevant, powerful, and packed with truths that all young people need to hear.”

Do not pass it by. We don’t want your child, the child you mentor, or any other young person that you love to have to tearfully say to God, their parents a physician, or a future spouse, “Nobody told me. I didn’t know.”

Thank you for allowing me to share in your day and introduce you our book!

God’s Blessings,

Melissa Nesdahl

Guest Post Tomorrow

For the first time ever I am going to have a guest post tomorrow.  Melissa Nesdahl is a wife, mother, author, writer, and volunteer who loves Jesus!  I think I met her from Twitter?  From one tweet that lead to another tweet  perhaps?  Retweet?

This was the first post I read on Melissa's blog.  I was moved by her friend Pam's story and I am sure you will be too.   Please stop back tomorrow to read more on what Melissa has to say about her book.

Hope you are having a great Thursday!  We awoke to a warm -20 F with a high of 4F right now and amazingly, I heard birds chirping this morning!

Stop back tomorrow!

Take a Peek

I always wanted to have the blog header that you just knew it was my blog when you saw it.  Say like if you saw it on TV or something.  {I laugh}  I do like blogs that have their own personal look.  I just never seem to be able to keep a look, or if I find one or create one, I like it for only so long.

I've always wanted to do a black look ever since I started blogging but read time and again, "do not have a black background".  So I went with white.  What's the difference?  So here it is, BLACK.  I like it {for now}.

When I created the last header I used a tutorial that had and example more like what I have up there now.  I didn't really think I had enough pictures I would like that were my own.  Today I realized I do.  They aren't the best but they are mine.  It's a journey both in words and photos.

It's also a lot like Jenny's blog.  You see, I like her blog and I hope that she's flattered that mine now looks a lot like hers.

Changing this took care of the comments problem I was having but now I have a problem with the extra large pictures.  Adam says, "Go big or go home", so I'm finding a way to keep the pictures big.  For some reason it's not as easy as just changing the widths in html.

And because each post is "supposed to have a picture" I thought I'd throw in a couple of my clowns.  These were from the weekend.  The back story....Henry loves hooking things Daddy does.

I hope you are having a great week!

The Fisher's - Plaque

I wanted to share this awesome gift I received for entering a contest "Funniest Kid Story".  I won by entering this story about my HD. Henry's Mom I thought this was really cute:

I should say that last year this time we put in a retaining wall of timbers. This allowed us to put in a playground on the hill which we live. So from then until now any piece of wood is called a timber. Henry was 2.5 at the time and is now 3.5.

At breakfast:

Henry, arm in the air, "Mom, I think I have timbers in my arms".

Me, "Oh, hunny, those are actually called bones".

Henry, "Oh, they're not timbers?"

Me, "No, hunny they're bones".

The contest was hosted by Alison and her blog titled, "The Crazy-Busy, Absolutely Nuts Life of a Working Mom"   .  You can see the other things she makes at Designs By Emerson.

As soon as I saw my creation....

...I started thinking of Christmas gifts!  I know it's early but why not start now and be done before the holidays?  Or how about an anniverary gift, house-warming gift?  Or just a gift {if you're like me, maybe a gift to yourself}?  Anyway, I am thinking Christmas gift.  I know of a couple of Godparents that this might work for!!

Alison has been so kind to offer 10% off your order just mention the code FISHER when you check out.

32nd Street Blog Parade

Abigail at Rear Window - Observations at 32nd Street is having a blog parade.  You will see the ad for it on my sidebar.  It's a fun parade with some great prizes!  Stop over to see Abigail and the others!  You can link up your blog and hope to win some of her prizes!!!

Here are her questions:

1. What's your favorite time of the day, and why?
I'd have to day early AM.  I've always been one to get up early and go to bed early.

2. If health wasn't an issue, what food could you live off of?
I don't think I could ever tire of Spaghetti.

3. If you could have one wish granted (besides wishing for more wishes), what would it be?
For all babies/children to be healthy.  Breaks my heart.

4. What's one thing that you get teased about a lot?
Not so much anymore (at least not that I know of) but having red hair.

5. If you could choose one movie, book, or TV show to spend your life in, which would you pick? What type of character would you be?
I'd pick Ordinary People.....I would want to write myself into the storyline as Conrad's friend and help him out.

6. If you could have one talent that you don't already have, what would it be?
To be more creative.  :)

7.If money were no object, where would you go on vacation?

I'd go back to France.  But only if the French were a little nicer.

8. If you were an awesome singer, which genre would you sing?would you go on vacation?
It wouldn't matter to me...just to be able to sing & play the guitar would be so awesome!

9. If you could have a $10,000 shopping spree to one store, what would it be?
Costco....although I think we spend that much there in a year anyway!  Not because we like spending that much money but we due most ALL of shopping there.

10. If you could live in any point in time, when would it be?
I'd like to live in the '50s.  Sometimes I think I tend to live my life like I do anyway...minus the computer.

11. If every outfit in your wardrobe had to be one color, what would it be?
You mean like it already is?  B L A C K without a doubt.

12. If you were one of the seven dwarves, which one would you be?

13. What's the last album you listened to?
Funhouse - Pink

14. What's something we'd be surprised to know about you?
I've shared this before so some of you probably do know this but I'll just say it again....I used to ride a Harley-Davidson.  Rode to Sturgis with friends.  Met my husband two months after I bought my second bike and rode it for one year.  Fear of my kids not having their mother keeps me from having one until they are all out of the house.  It's all about the family these days.  It was fun to have when single. :)
What fun Abigail!  Thanks for having this parade!

I'm A Brazilian Nut

Update:  I saw this cool way to find this product for you.  It's kind of crazy to be able to do this.  Not sure about it.  Anyway, we did buy three more of different "flavors" for the kids stockings.  Let me know if you like it.

Orignal Post:

Okay....maybe I'm not exactly a Brazilian Nut, more like just a nut....but I smell like a Brazilian nut!  What do I mean you ask?  Well, let me tell you about my great new find!

While shopping at Wallly World I found this great product shower gel and lotion by Tree Hut.  Man, or woamn, it smells so good.  They had so many good unique smelling products to choose from.  I actuall want to get the all  Even though they are really a great price (admit it...most things are at Wally World) I can't buy them all.  Anyway.....get this, it's got Certified Organic Shea Butter in it, Paraben free as well as DMDM (don't ask me what that is but it must be bad because they tell me it's not in my new lotion).  The shower gel is also paraben free (maybe the DMDM too but it's not in front of me) and sulfate free.  Oh and did I mention the price?  Yeah, pretty good way cheaper than say B&BW (get that?).

Wanna know what else?  I was up at 4:00 AM thinking about what I forgot at Wally World.....that I had to have today (why today?  Well, because I have a certain birthday cake to make and party to get ready for!) so I just got up and drove up there.  Way easier than going with three kids and let's face it, I'll need all the time I can get today.

Guess what I saw?  A motorcycle at 5:30 AM with a temp of 30 degrees....that's crazy, err, nutty!

Guess what else....I treated myself to a LARGE vanilla latte....can you tell?

Remember I am still thinking of a name change.  I'll keep that open until Monday.  Oh and guess what else?  I want a button....I am kind of getting to be a button freak.

Have a great weekend!  I have a three year old (tomorrow) to make some memories for!

PS.  I lost my spell checker???

Bunches O' Stuff

I've had all these ideas of different posts that I've want to do.  Different things I've want to say.  Time has once again gotten away from me.  You probably didn't notice but I totally didn't get my Halloween pictures/post up, missed the boat on Turkey Day and now we are fast approaching Christmas.  I'm behind and I have books and calendars that are going to take up my time on the computer.  All of which is a back burner to my day to day life.  My kids.  At least it should be.  Sometimes I get to wrapped up in this computer (blog, facebook and twitter).  I mean really?  What am I doing?

So here's one long (sorry) post about a few things.

The first is a blog that I wanted to mention.  It's Sugar Pie Farmhouse.  She doesn't post that often, usually about once a week and they are generally pretty long but this one post really hit home for me.  Please share if you like the post or if you already read Sugar Pie Farmhouse.

Here's the post:

This another post that hit my heart.  It's from Amanda, I am sure some of you already know her!  She's wonderful.

I won a great t-shirt from Lollipop Tees, LLC through a giveaway at Kelly's blog.  I ordered at 2T since my kids blow through the baby sizes.  This way Sophie would be able to wear it longer.  Wouldn't this be a fun Christmas gift?  Big thanks for Kelly & Sarah!

I had a contest a while back, remember?  Caribou or Starbucks?  As you probably know, I changed the title of my blog.  It's all new to me to have a "common" last name.  At the same time the name Fisher makes you think of two things, Fisher Nuts and Fisher Price.  So I went with My Priceless Fishers.  I almost did Nuts about my Fishers but Big Daddy thought it as long and he liked My Priceless Fishers better so I went with that.  But we did draw out of a hat a random winner for you all that tried to help me out.

I guess she thinks it's a secret!

Congratulations Amy O!  She surely deserves a little pick me up with six kids!  Amy's newest was born within days of Sophie!  Amy, let me know if you'd prefer Caribou or Starbucks and I'll get that out to you!  Many thanks to all of you who commented and racked your brain for me.  I think it's hard to come up with these blog handles!

Let's see what else?

I also want to thank Paul Krumrei my high school friend who helped me immensely on the new layout of my blog.  He put up with many e-mails and facebook IM's about HTML code and where to put it and everything else I question him about.  He is a photographer and a Software Development Manager (who happens to be looking for work).  Thanks a ton Paul!  UPDATE:  Congrats!  He just got a job!

I would also like to thank Kelly for doing my blog header.  I love it Kelly!  She also made my Christmas cards!  You totally rock Mama_Ox!

I love my blog friends!  All you all!  You are all rock stars!

One favor of you Rock Stars....can you join me in prayer for Baby R?

I think that's about all the quick catching up I have.

Merry Christmas and thanks for stopping by!  I appreciate it!

The Bacon

I spend a lot of time yesterday e-mailing Laura, reading Carrie's Pocket Your Dollars Blog, reading the Rainbow ad, loading coupon printer, printing, cutting, highlighting, making my list and checking it twice.  And guess what?  I saved my husband's bacon.  It was all worth it.  Bob, who checked me out, who rang me up at Rainbow, even said, "You did a good job".

Wanna see?

So to recap:

I spent $70.51 on 64 items (and they were things that I would normally buy, or maybe not normally, because I wouldn't *spend* the money to buy them.)  In other words, keeping true to our buying we rarely buy box meals.  As you can see the exception would be cakes and cereal.  But for the most part we don't, so I didn't.

I had a total savings of $83.03.

You can figure that I spend about $1.00 per item or got a lot for free!!!!  I even got D I A P E R S!

Do I rock?  Well, kind of?!  But who really ROCKS.....Carrie Rocha!

I expect to do this every Wednesday and I know I'll get better and it will be faster getting it all together.  I did buy three items without coupons.  Two were still on sale and one was a treat for the kids, because man, did they ROCK letting me rock on with my, "Saving My Husband's Bacon" self.

If you do this already, or if you start, please share with me your bad saving bacon self stories!

Caribou or Starbucks Anyone?

Eventually I knew it would happen.....

I just didn't know what to do then and I don't know what to do now.....

I want to drop the blogspot on my domain name....that's easy enough.

But what's not easy....

I want a new name.....or a shortened version.....

But I am terrible....I can't think of a thing....

No clever quips.....

I am open to suggestions........

Aren't I terrible?

I am soliciting you......

My only ideas....

the fisher family

the fisher five (sounds like the Jackson five???) ya...that's what I thought.

I've already read..."should pick something good out of the gate". I just never thought I'd be so into this blog world or that I would meet so many nice people that would actually read my blog.

I can sweeten the pot....

Do you like Caribou? (That's probably a MN thing) Starbucks?

I'll send you a gift card if I pick your name or something close to what I end up with.

Does that work for you? Will you work for me?

Patiently waiting.

You'll need to drop your ideas on this post under comments for a chance for the Starbucks or Caribou card.
